Dear Congressman Stearns:
I am in receipt of your letter in response to my request that you support any measures supporting the impeachment of President Bush. I am sorry to say that I received a letter, purportedly written by you- full of deceptions and untruths in support of your president's unlawful, immoral war of aggression in Iraq. "You" cite studies from 2-3 years ago that purport to have found no manipulation of intelligence by this administration to rationalize its war against Iraq. You claim that congress was shown the same intelligence the President was--that is simply not true--and I hope you will research this point and delete it from your future letters. You also point out that the UN did indeed pass a resolution against Saddam in November, 2002. However, by error of omission , you fail to point out that a) the Resolution in no way justified Mr. Bush's War, nor b)that Iraq was complying with the UN inspectors for 4 months who were making satisfactory progress and had found nothing--those inspections, were, as I HOPE you know, abruptly terminated by Bush's criminal aggression--why? I think it's safe to say that allowing the inspections to continue would reveal the empty lie the casus belli was. You are aware, I would hope since you are my representative, that in more recent years and months we have learned of the Downing Street Memo, the confessions of George Tenet, as well as retired, disaffected intelligence agents who reveal that the intelligence was, in the words of the DSM, "Fixed around the policy." Sir, not being ignorant but a student of history, I am well aware that Saddam Hussein committed horrible atrocities while head of Iraq--however, I am also cognizant of the fact that up until the Gulf War of 1991, the US was Saddam's chief supplier of weapons and the very gasses he committed his crimes with--which we looked the other way from and took no action. Sir, I know not whether you are being willfully deceiving or you really DO believe the things you write--or at least have your signature at the bottom of. Either way, you are now on a sinking Titanic called the Bush administration--will you go down with the disturbed captain, or will you discharge your duties to this nation, acknowledge the truth, and act accordingly?
Sincerely,
Arnie Harris
