Response to Question: What another president may have done differently after 9/11

I do not attribute Bush's decision to invade Iraq as an example of his otherwise amply demonstrated stupidity. It was something he did as part of the neo-con PNAC plan, using 9/11 as a very flimsy rationale--The neo-cons are NOT stupid, but their intelligence is used in the service of an ultimately insane and self-defeating imperialistic policy agenda. Any other president, who was not in thrall to the Wolfowitzes, Cheneys,Perles,Feiths, et al, would have directed all the military's energies not toward Iraq, but OBL and al Qaeda--i.e., would NOT have pulled troops away at at least two crucial junctures when OBL was on the verge of capture--first in Afghanistan, then in Pakistan-- and redeployed them to Iraq (there would have been NO Iraq War). As one congressman recently said, the Iraq war has been the biggest military blunder in our history--not only have we turned the country into a hopeless and chaotic bloodbath, but have swollen the rolls of al Qaeda by those seeking revenge for the carnage we have created in Iraq.
